EOSE contributed to the 5th outdoor sports Euro’Meet

The fifth edition of the Outdoor Sports Euro’Meet took place in Viana do Castelo (Portugal) from 24th to 26th of September 2019. Organised every two years with a special focus on the sustainable development of outdoor sports, the 2019 event was extremely successful with around 450 participants from 25 countries and provided a unique opportunity for networking, sharing of good practices, and exchanges. It gathered various stakeholders such as outdoor providers, local authorities, universities and training providers, national sport federations, and ministries responsible for sport.

This year Euro’Meet was delivered through four main themes: #BeActive, Be Healthy, Be Outdoors; Blue Growth; Urban Outdoors; and Inclusive Outdoors.

EOSE was invited as a key note speaker and was represented by Executive Director, Aurélien Favre, who made a presentation on the main realities, characteristics and tendencies of the sport and physical activity labour market in Europe as well as its principle challenges in terms of skills gaps and recruitment and retention of the workforce of paid staff and volunteers. Aurélien used the latest statistics collated through the ESSA-Sport initiative funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ programme as well as the main findings from the recent European Employer Skills Survey which gathered 3,812 responses from employers of the sector also under the ESSA-Sport initiative.

EOSE would like to thank ENOS for the invitation and was delighted to contribute to such an inspiring event.
