EOSE President – “It is crucial to invest on the human Capital of volunteers in sport”

Dear friends of sport,

We are living in a world that is revolving faster than ever. Being able to be innovative and responsive is the quest most individuals and organisations are following.

This is also true for the sport and active leisure sector. Indeed as a growing and promising sector, it must adapt and evolve to meet its potential as a major contributor to society (impact on economic, health and social inclusion) while delivering new opportunities for everyone to participate in sport and physical activity.
That’s what lead us in EOSE believe it is crucial to invest on the human Capital of new professionals/volunteers in sport. This is indeed our “raison d’être”. That’s what we chime for and we are delighted to have been invited to showcase our ideas at the MOVE Congress 2013, to be held in Barcelona, 16-19 October 2013.

If we are advocating for a better skilled and qualified workforce, it is because we know the Sport and Active Leisure sector well enough to acknowledge it is a people facing sector driven by volunteers. From the grassroots level to the high performance end of the spectrum, a competent workforce with the right skills is paramount to its success.
We believe the worlds of education, training and employment in sport could worked hand-in-hand towards the development of the sector. That’s our wish and that’s our vision. Cross-sectorial and innovative approach are at the heart of the methodology developed since the creation of EOSE in order to create the conditions to develop a competent workforce (both paid-staff and volunteers) with the right skills through fit for purpose qualifications and/or course.

What is the 7 steps model? An open invitation to all of you to join the move and form a new wave for the sport and active leisure sector.
