EU Sport Forum 2010 – 19/20 April 2010, Madrid (Spain)

The European Commission will organise the second EU Sport Forum on Monday 19 April and Tuesday 20 April 2010 in Madrid (Spain) as foreseen within the 2007 White Paper on Sport. The Forum is a key annual event in the framework of the structured dialogue on sport at EU level and it is going to be held in close connection with the Informal EU Sport Ministers meeting under the Spanish EU Presidency.

This event will gather main representatives from a variety of sport and sport related organisations from across Europe and will be organised through the following five different sessions:

  1. EU level cooperation in sport – recent developments
  2. Priorities for the planned Commission initiatives in the field of sport
  3. Further elements for implementing the new EU sport competence
  4. Results from the workshops
  5. Joint Panel with EU Sport Ministers: The Lisbon Treaty and sport – an enhanced EU agenda

The first session will include a presentation of the progress report on the implementation of the White Paper on Sport, the impacts of the Lisbon Treaty in the field of Sport and also the preparatory actions 2009 and 2010.

A second session organised through two different workshops will follow – one on the societal role of sport and a second one on the financing of sport.

The third session will be composed of the presentation of the Eurobarometer survey, the results of the study on volunteering and the outcomes of the study on Sports Agents in Europe.

Following a fourth session in which will be presented the results of the 2 workshops, a joint panel session with European Sport Ministers will be arranged to exchange on the issues around the Lisbon Treaty and Sport.
